British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on Monday, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the sports world shared its support for the fighter in the following the heartbreaking incident.
